Sinus sufferers, have you ever wondered why mornings are particularly difficult for you? You find yourself noisily clearing your throat or cough repeatedly to relieve the thick lump of phlegm but do not seem to be able to "flush" it away. During the night, sinus sufferers usually breathe through their mouths and do not swallow or clear the mucus from their nose, thus accumulating the mucus drainage in the back of the throat and nose. This causes the irritating feeling of a lump in your throat which you will incessantly try to clear by coughing hard and loud and might sore your throat in the process.

Having a sore throat can be painful and uncomfortable. At the onset of a sore throat, drink plenty of fluids and gargle with hydrogen peroxide and water as this can stop it in its track. However, you can try these nature's lesser-known sore throat home remedies which are simple and easy to prepare.

Cayenne pepper
It is used as an herbal supplement as it is high in Vitamin A, B6, E, C, riboflavin, potassium and manganese.

Mix 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper with 1 cup of boiling water. Drink this 3 times daily to stop sore throats and it is also very beneficial for colds. This beverage generates a feeling of warmth and improves the circulation. This remedy really works as the length of the illness is very much reduced.

Honey
Hippocrates made a special study of honey and used it in most of his natural treatments. He recommended it to his patients and took it every day of his life. Honey heats the body, cleanses sores and ulcers, relieves difficult breathing and acts as an expectorant which loosens phlegm.

This is one of the sore throat home remedies you can use at the first hint of a sore throat. Mix 2 tablespoons of honey, 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, 4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to 1 cup of warm water. Stir well and use the mixture as a gargle.

Cider Vinegar
Complaints know to react favorably to cider vinegar are migraine, runny noses, catarrh and sore throat.

Mix 2 cups vinegar with I cup of honey and drink this mixture 3 times daily or use 2 teaspoonfuls to a tumbler of water with meals three times daily and on rising first thing in the morning.

Cider vinegar is rich in potassium and very essential to soft body tissues as deficiency of this mineral can cause cells to shrink in size and lose their fluid and makes our nerves "all on edge" and we become over-excitable. Because of this health benefit, other than using cider vinegar as one of the sore throat home remedies, you can use it as a relaxant. When you are feeling irritable and fatigued due to your persistent sinus problems, prepare yourself an instant reviver by dissolving one calcium tablet in two teaspoonfuls of cider vinegar, add one teaspoonful of honey and stir together in water or juice.

These sore throat home remedies are not meant to take the place of your doctor but knowing how to use them is a preventive way of living.
